Uplifting Women In Tourism (UWIT)
The Uplifting Women in Tourism (UWIT) Programme is a flagship initiative by the Ghana Tourism Federation (GHATOF), designed to empower and transform women’s participation in Ghana’s informal tourism economy into digitally enabled, environmentally sustainable, and financially secure entrepreneurship.
A National Initiative for Inclusive, Digital, and Sustainable Tourism Development in Ghana
Implemented in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), the programme focuses on equipping women with the tools, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving tourism landscape. UWIT supports capacity building in digital literacy, business development, sustainable practices, and market access—ensuring that women are not only participants in tourism, but leaders and innovators within it. Through strategic partnerships, training, and mentorship, UWIT is committed to driving inclusive growth, enhancing livelihoods, and positioning women as a powerful force in shaping the future of Ghana’s tourism industry.
